40th Birthday Party Ideas

Lordy Lordy Look Who's Forty!

Okay, it's the big 40 and it's time to start planning that birthday. But what do you do on a 40th birthday anyway? Hopefully the following article will give you a few birthday ideas to run with.

How bout a surprise party?

A surprise Party is certainly something that you are unable to do by yourself; however a surprise party is a terrific idea for just about any birthday. In order to make a surprise part successful, you should inform the birthday boy or girl that a small party is planned with only a few close friends. However the true number of people that will be at the party is kept a secret. Alternatively, if you are good at, you simply trick the person who is having a birthday to come with you to a certain location where the party will be unexpectedly taking place.

This is your life

This one is similar to the television show. Get together some scrap books and build up a virtual history of the life of the person who is turning 40. You can also use a computer and do this using Power Point presentation or some other similar software. Once everything is ready, you simply start to introduce various people from his or her past. You could also include some newspaper clippings within a book that were present the week of their birth.

A Birthday On the Lake

Another great idea is to rent a boat and take it out on the lake, river or sea. However I do not recommend taking it out on the sea due to the fact that this will tend to make a lot of people sea sick.

Rent space at a castle or mansion

Many of these places are also equipped with large banquet halls or ball rooms. If renting space at a castle, this will make for a great medieval theme as well. That would make a very memorable Birthday for Harry Potter fans as well.

The Year they Were Born Theme

A unique idea is to have a birthday party that is based around the year in which the guest of honor was born or grew up in. For example, if that person was born or grew up in the late 60s you might hold a party where people are wearing mini skirts, single breast suits or leather jackets.

A Magical Birthday

Who ever said that magicians are for a child's birthday parties? A lot of people love magicians and if that is the case for your guest of honor then think about hiring a magician.

A 40th Birthday In The Great Outdoors

Maybe the birthday boy or girl loves to go camping. How great it would be to finish up a day of fishing with an outdoor birthday party at a camp site followed by a long evening of sitting by the roaring fire and chatting with good friends about old times? You can even have a big roast going on a pit and even make a whole weekend out of it.

40th Beach Birthday Party

Weather permitting, have a birthday party at the beach. During the winter, setting up and decorating a large room with a Hawaiian theme or beach items can also brighten up a person's fortieth birthday too.

Whodunnit Birthday Party

A great place to do this is at a hotel or a rented mansion. Simply plan out a murder mystery. Instructions on how to do this can easily be found in many places online.
