A Birthday Party On A Budget

Birthday Parties on a budget do not have to appear as though they were planned on a budget. If planned properly, no child would ever notice the difference.

Supplies:

The supplies that you will need are Games, Invitations, decorations, some prizes, the birthday cake, birthday candles and some party food.

  • The first thing you need to do is figure out your budget. Once you have a specific budget in mind, you need to stick to it. It is a lot easier than you think to begin to stray off of the budget as you go along but that is not necessary. Sometimes people just get overzealous.

  • The next thing you should do is choose an inexpensive location to hold the party. Often this is your own home or another family or friends house. But other ideas can include parks or play grounds. Be sure to have enough adults present to keep an eye on the children of a lot of them will be present at the birthday party.

  • Now you need to make a decision on the games that will be played at the party. You can pull out the old favorites such as pi the tail on the donkey, green light red light, musical chairs or even a piñata or two. You can other ideas by talking to other parents or search the net. There are also plenty of books available that will give you plenty of ideas to choose from.

  • When it comes to the party food, keep it simple. Most people are going to fill up on ice cream and cake anyway. An inexpensive rout is usually hot dogs and sandwiches. Make the food yourself instead of relying on going to a restaurant for the birthday party food. Kool-Aid, juice or sodas from large containers is much cheaper than serving individually contained items like cans of pop or juice boxes.

  • Sometimes printing out invitation on a computer is not really an inexpensive route due to the cost of printer ink but if you choose, you can still go this route. However, you can also write out the invitations yourself and even hand them out yourself to save on stamps (unless that is within your budget). Anyone that you know who has an email address; you can simply email them the invitations. You can also consider simply calling people on the phone.

  • You can purchase decorations through close-out, discount or clearance sale isles if possible. A lot of the decoration can be made by hand using construction or birthday wrapping paper.

  • Not only can you use brown paper lunch bags as party favor bags but you ca also make one activity where the children decorate them. Fill the bags will low cost items that you can get at dollar stores or flea markets.
