Birthday Decorations
Every birthday party needs decorations
or it just isn’t a birthday
party at all. Whether you are
on a low budget or are expecting
an elaborate and expensive birthday
party, your decorations should
involve careful thought and be
planned out according to your
birthday theme. The following
tips will help you in whatever
decorations you have in mind.
The Play Area
Most of your decorations should
be limited to the play area. The
play area will be where you games
and activities take place. This
may be indoors or outdoors but
regardless of which one it is,
the focus of the party should
be on this location. Be sure to
decorate the play area according
to the theme of the party. Make
sure that your decorations will
not inhibit any games or activities
that you have planned for this
area as well. In other words,
you may not want to hang streamers
in an area where children may
be swinging sticks at piñatas.
The Gift Opening Area
Most people generally have the
idea of using the play area or
the eating area to open the gifts.
This is really not a great idea
because you want the area to be
clean and ready to go from one
aspect of the party to the next.
Nobody really wants to sit around
cleaning up prior to opening gifts
just so they can get on to the
games. And children would rather
move straight back to the play
area once the gifts have been
opened as well. Keeping you areas
separate will give you birthday
party the perfect flow.
The gift opening area should
be all set with trash bags ready
to take on the wrappings, a large
table for the gifts to be placed
on and a single table and chair
for the birthday boy or girl to
be freely seen by everyone opening
his or her gifts. Be sure to allow
plenty of viewable room for taking
pictures. Decorating the Gift
Opening area is not necessary.
This will only cause more clutter
and take the attention of the
main objective of this time of
the party. The gifts will do the
decorating all on their own.
The Dining Area
You should have a separate table
off to the side for the cake cutting
once the child has blown out the
candles on the cake. By doing
this, this will make much more
room for the kids to have fun
and sit around the table while
you cut and hand out the pieces
of cake individually. Much less
confusion and fewer accidents
are bound to happen this way.
The Primary Perspective
Balloons, streamers and banners
are usually a dead giveaway that
there is a party going on. Balloons
have always been a great favorite
among kids but more importantly,
balloons with helium. You can
purchase small helium balloon
kits at your local Wal-Mart or
on Amazon.com. Balloons are also
a great way to keep with the theme
of a party because you can purchase
custom balloons with images of
your choice. You can also add
backdrops to make the party more
enjoyable. Be sure to use several
bright colored balloons to bring
out the appealing birthday party
motif.
The Party Entrance
Let people know that they are
at the right place right away
by adding some decorations to
the front entrance. Not only will
this let them know that they are
in the right place but makes everyone
feel welcomed from the get go.
By simply hanging a few streamers
and balloons right at the front
door or porch, people instantly
get the sense of a Birthday party
rather than that awkward feeling
of coming to someone’s house
for the first time and wondering
what it’s going to be like.
Let them know right away that
today is a day of fun and games.
