The
Birthday Party Theme
Coming up with a theme for your
birthday party makes the party
that much more enjoyable. Bit
it can be difficult deciding on
a theme and then planning the
party around it. The following
information may prove to be helpful
in assisting you with this tedious
process.
Six Primary Components
Birthday parties are generally
comprised of invitations, decorations,
games, activities, refreshments,
cake and party favors. The idea
is to first decide upon a theme
and then design those six elements
around that theme. A themed party
doesn’t have to be expensive.
It is best to come up with your
budget before beginning and then
decide how much time and effort
you put into the theme based on
that budget. This will avoid any
complications or unnecessary expenses
later.
Selecting A Theme For Your Birthday
Party
Just about anything that you
can think of can be incorporated
into a party theme. The best way
to do this is to sit down and
make a list. Think about the person
who is having the birthday and
create a list of things that you
know he or she takes an interest
in. Anything can be included into
this list because this is merely
the first step. Does this person
like any particular hobbies, games,
movies or sports? If this is a
child’s birthday, maybe
they have a favorite toy or place
they like to go to. While you
are in the process of making this
list, more ideas may spontaneously
appear as well. Don’t forget
to consider Animals, occupations
or even movie characters in general.
Planning The Birthday Party
Theme
-
When inviting guests for
a child, it’s a good
rule of thumb to invite as
many guest as the child’s
age and then one. For example,
if the child is seven years
old, invite eight guests to
the party.
-
When planning games or activities,
it’s a good idea to
make one game a team game
while the other one is played
as individuals. This will
allow you to give the activity
experiences some variance.
It’s also a good idea
to plan an activity that involves
making something so that children
have something to do as they
make the transition from arriving
to getting involved in the
party. Plus they will have
something to take home with
them if your budget does not
account for party favors.
-
Give your snacks and refreshments
some interesting names based
on the theme of the party.
For example if you are having
a Harry Potter theme birthday
party, you can serve spiced
eggnog and call it pumpkin
juice.
-
This should be obvious but
be sure that your birthday
cake stays with the theme
of the party. You can also
search the net and find terrific
Birthday Cake ideas for just
about any theme.
